I-40 Bridge over the Mississippi River Seismic Retrofit

The seismic retrofit of two approach bridges to the Mississippi River on Interstate 40 was completed in two phases and four projects. Projects A & B included over 35,000 cubic yards of concrete, 9 million pounds of reinforcing steel, 9.5 million pounds of structural steel, and 90,000 feet of pipe piling. Project C and D of the seismic retrofit of the I-40 bridge over the Mississippi River included over 25,000 cubic yards of concrete, 6.5 million pounds of reinforcing steel, 120,000 linear feet of pipe piles, bearing replacement, and expansion joint replacements.
